The topics have been grouped into a Course of Study for grades K-6 based on National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S), developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) NETS project. These have been adopted by most states in one form or another. California has currently adopted CTAP standards; however CTAP accepts NETS for students.

To use this curriculum in whole-class instructions, you need a computer lab, a projector, and Microsoft Office or Open Office. Some schools also utilize these videos on single computers, allowing the students to work through the skills at their own pace rather than in a lab setting.  Many hardcopy curricula and non-video curricula out there require multiple purchases. I have geared the entire curriculum around software that comes with the computer, as well as Microsoft Office. You will also see a few lessons utilizing Open Source software, which is free software that has been developed by groups of people looking to put free software on the Internet for everyone to use. If your district cannot afford Microsoft Office, you can download OpenOffice and follow along with 95% of the videos.  I have included a video with instructions on accessing and downloading open source software.

Videos are constantly being created and added, and you can sign up for our newsletter on the homepage to be updated on all new developments with the curriculum
